Thanks. Everything is currently set to default, which is what made it so hard to figure out. Sigh.

Actually, I was thinking about doing just that when you responded. It was the Malwarebytes BrowserGuard acting up. I’m chatting with Malwarbytes now.

And thanks to you, I have some hair left. Sigh.

That is exactly the information I was looking for. I’ll give it a try soon, then let you know if there’s an additional problem.

It didn’t go at all well. As I noted in my original request, I do not want a child theme and I do not want to change the image size. I’m not that adept with code. I simply want to know what the recommended size is for featured images so that I can adjust my images to conform so that they don’t get cropped.

Are the sizes variable or something, so that there is no straightforward, “Featured images should be no larger Ypx by Zpx”? Or am I missing some other solution?

The thread that you linked to says that an image is “the default image size for the blog page.” but does not say anywhere in that thread what that default image size is. That’s the information I’m looking for. Alas, the blog in question has been updated, so I’m guessing that 1024×1024 is a reflection the changes made as laid out in that solution, not the default size referred to in one of the early solutions.

The only solution I saw in the link thread referred to thumbnails – are thumbnails the same as featured images? I want my images bigger than 150 x 150, which, by the way, is not the 3:2 ratio you recommended in your initial response.

You also did not answer my question about that ratio – does it apply to all photos on the site or just the featured image? I have all ratios on my site – do I need to change everything?

Thanks @betydbr. So the ratio thing is that for all images or just featured images? Also, I have several featured images that are considerably wider than they are tall and are not getting cropped. I have some that are 1200×680 (the size recommended when I add a featured image) that do get cropped but not to a 3:2 ratio.

None of the images in my posts or on my pages get cropped and they are all sorts of different ratios, horizontal, vertical, whatever.

So is there a dimension limit in px that I’m missing? Like no wider than 1000px?
