I’m having an identical problem, (webfinger looks fine when requested in browser, but webfinger.net reports 403 forbidden), I’m not running multisite or buddypress.
Did anyone find a solution to this?
Thanks, I’ve worked around it for now by just displaying an event list to mobile users instead.
