After some research, I found options twenty twenty one plugin.
Using this I have been able to get a sidebar on the right side of the page.
It looks like you have to go through premium / free trail option to have sidebar on the left side, is this correct ?
I think for my localhost login page for wordpress it would be best to have the sidebar on the left just for that page. Other pages for website projects can be on the right side.
Joachim do you know of a good sidebar plugin that can put the side bar on the left side as well as the right for my situation where I have a meta widget for the login as well as normal widgets like categories , archives etc ?
