Great. Thanks for the feedback.
oh great π
So are you saying if I add EWWWW then the Retina images already work with it?
Any idea on how much a compression I should expect using Retina with EWWWW? I understand that Smush is the more powerful plugin but also very expensive.
Aaron
ah, gotcha. I will Yoast a note.
Thanks again, Jordy.

yes it was on and now it’s working on my machine π
There’s a conflict between these two plugins with this option?
right, I understand Retina and high res are different, I was just hoping it would work in high res Windows machines too.
Same page, continuagroup.com and it’s the main image – http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/hs-screen-sidexsidecontnet-2048px-1024×648.png
I used the 1024 image but I think the space is about 600-700.
Does it pull in the retina image on your Mac?
Maybe I need to make the large WP image size smaller than 1024.
BTW – thanks for the great support. I do understand how it works now. I’ll just drop in the non-retina and it will grab the retina image as needed.

One last question, Jordy.
So all I need to do is drop, for example, this url on my page:
http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×150.png
and then this will display if it’s a non-retina device or low res machine.
But if it’s a high resolution machine or a retina device it will automatically pull in this url:
http://www.continuagroup.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Support2-1-150×[email protected]
Or should I start with the 2x image? This is what I’m confused about still. Which url do I place on the page?
Also, I’ve placed the first url above on the page and then tested on my machine but it does not pull in the 2x image. I’m using a Dell XPS 15 2014 model with a screen res of 3200 x 1800 pixels- a very high resolution so I thought it would work. The image doesnβt look crisp like my full size did.Gotcha. I think I misunderstood what the plugin does haha
I got it now, I think. I’ll try again and if it works I’ll come back and mark this as closed π
Also, I’m not using the debug mode but I did set image quality to 100 if that would make this big of a difference.

Hi Jordy.
I’m testing continuagroup.com.
Here are the test results:

Thanks for your help with this π

In reply to: Background images are not displaying in IEYou rock! that’s exactly what was wrong.
I would have never guessed that was the issue…
thanks a million

In reply to: Background images are not displaying in IEso 90% of those errors that are for closing tag for the php generated wp feeds. The closing tags are in the code and they actually appear in the source for IE as well.

In reply to: Background images are not displaying in IEI just put this up so I hadn’t really gone through it.
I’ll fix those errors but I can’t see any affecting the BG properties.
The images are setup like any other theme. They’re in a folder named images and then there’s a some sub folders for certain projects I did.
Thanks for your help. I’ll let you know if it’s still an issue after fixing all of his errors.

CSS validates. Thanks for any help you may be able to offer.

In reply to: Background images are not displaying in IEUnfortunately that doesn’t make it work.
It’s really quite strange. I look in IE8s developer tool at the CSS style for container and it’s somehow set to background: none.
Anyone else have an idea why IE would change the values of my background styles?

In reply to: Background images are not displaying in IEI’m not sure what you mean. I’ve already added the image through background property. Can you elaborate?
