Currently, the Edit Media → Convert to WebP button is not working, and we are aware of this issue. However, the Bulk Options are working fine. We expect the button to be fixed in an upcoming update.

After converting, the plugin deletes the original image and saves the converted WebP version with the same name. In other words, the .png or .jpg extension is replaced with .webp. So, you will still find the image in the Media Library as before, only the format will change.

Additionally, some settings are already available to convert previously uploaded images, giving you flexibility in managing your media files.

👉 Please note that the main purpose of this plugin is to automatically convert images to WebP format right after they are uploaded.

If you still face any issues, please check the Details section where you’ll find the Author’s link, and you can contact directly from there.

Thank you for using this plugin!

    Hello there,

This plugin works with product imports as well. When importing from a CSV file, the images will also be converted to WebP, as long as they are downloaded into the WordPress Media Library during the import process. The plugin monitors newly added attachments, so once the importer saves a JPG or PNG into the library, it will be automatically converted to WebP.

And, if you’re finding our plugin helpful, we’d truly appreciate it if you could leave us a 5-star review. It really helps us improve and support more users like you.

    Thank You.

    Hello There,

This plugin is designed solely to convert images into WebP format. You can choose to convert only selected images. The converted images are optimized to reduce file size while maintaining resolution. After conversion, the original image is deleted, and the new WebP image is created in the same directory.

The plugin primarily converts the main image (the one displayed in the WordPress Media Library). However, if the plugin is installed and active beforehand, any newly imported images will also be converted to WebP, starting from the 100×100 resolution up to the original image size.

In WooCommerce, missing thumbnails are usually not caused by this plugin but rather by other settings, theme conflicts, or plugin incompatibilities. For this reason, we recommend first testing the plugin on a fresh WordPress installation, Upload a product there, install Upload Converter for WebP, and run a conversion test. or by restoring your website backup to a staging/test environment. If everything works as expected, you can safely use it on your main website. Please ensure you create a backup beforehand for safety.

After conversion, product thumbnails should remain intact. If you still experience any issues, feel free to let me know.

    Thank you.
