Hello. Sorry for the late reply. I tested it with both a child theme and plain Divi, and both didn’t work unfortunately, not even disabling all other plugins. It did work with Twenty Fifteen.

It’s apparently a theme conflict with a jquery perhaps. Disabling the plugins didn’t help but, when I tested with the standard WP theme, the shadowboxes were working fine.
The conflict is probably caused by Colorbox, as this earlier version of My Book Table uses Thickbox instead. So I’m getting back to version 2.0.0 for the moment as the shadow box works in that version.
