Looks like you have some good classes going there. I know you’ve already put something together to get people to register, but I’d encourage you to take a look at Eventbrite and think about using it. They make registration for events pretty easy and you can collect as much or as little information about registrants as you want. Hey, this is probably too late, but if it’s for a single-event, it’s probably best to just use a widget from Eventbrite and use it to manage your registration and payments.

Instead of installing a plug-in I just use Eventbrite’s widget to sell tickets and manage the registration.
