Hi, thanks for the information. I went to the wordpress blog, and logged in as admin. I did not find any tab that is labeled ‘tools’. I did however find a ‘manage’ tab, where there is a sub-option, ‘export’, and finally the interface to do what I want. Thanks a million!
When I import this xml file into the new host, would my blog look exactly the same?

I intend to transfer my WordPress blog to a new host, and will like to export my blog in xml format. I have found some really good tutorials around the internet. However, I will like to clarify a few things.
1. The tutorials seem to imply that I must have access to ssh to server/host control panel to access the database where the wordpress data is stored. If I only have ftp access to my host, is it possible to export my blog in xml format?
2. If I access the server through ssh, where should I look for blog data (the path or the table name, specifically), and how do I export it in xml format?
