Yes I am aware of the different settings, I also went through all 24+ pages on the support pages here.
Changing the colour for post grid item container only has effect on the transition phase during the “flip” of the item.

The css code had no effect.
Can you confirm that .png with transparent parts + the textbox can have a custom colour or is that not possible. I can live with a white background in the textbox but the images should fit with the rest of the site. If not possible I would need to either manually change the background of the images to #f6f6f6 in Photoshop or try a different plugin.
