hi all
i’ve found the solution to the problem .. and i thought i’d post the solution here in case anyone else needs it too.
it was WordPress’ new canonical redirect that was the problem.
i used this plugin to disable it:

thanks again 🙂

In reply to: 2 WP sites sharing same DB problem post-upgradebump 🙂
just to clarify..
1. i have two wordpress sites: abc.com and xyz.com ..
2. both sites have the wordpress files locally and is reading the database of abc.com
3. pre-upgrade to 3.2, going to xyz.com showed the posts made at abc.com
4. post-upgrade, xyz.com is now redirecting to abc.com
can anyone suggest why this is happening? what changes have been made to the codebase that would cause this?
cheers

In reply to: Forum Pluginxavic, i’m going to have a stab at using your plugin, but before i do, whether i go with it or not, i just wanted to say THANKS for putting in the energy to make something happen, instead of just whining about things the way the rest of us do.
+5 for you.

In reply to: Sending Referrers (again) :(there is one strange thing still though – i’m seeing the word “emap” appear at the top of each and every page in the admin area and it’s generating a bunch of “Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by” errors underneath it before it renders the WP page i’m looking at.
**update**
this is directly related to the Google Sitemap plugin. just enabled it on another blog (which was fine) and immediately the error begins appearing. i guess i’ll take this to another part of the forum. :)))s.

In reply to: Sending Referrers (again) :(hey there
>Do your domains match up under Admin > Options > General?
yes – that was the problem!!
both URIs were set to http://domainname.com/blogdir
i have a mod-rewrite sending all non-www requests to the www. version of the page. which of course means that referrer information is lost on the way.
thanks heaps podz and jdingman. flawless victory.

In reply to: Sending Referrers (again) :(can i ask too, what’s the purpose of this referrer check code? is it some kind of security check? can it possibly be overridden or commented out of the code temporarily?
