It was because we bought the personal version of JetPack. We mainly did this to enable VaultPress. However if you go to JetPack–>Setting, there will be a toggle switching the media section that says “Speed up images and photos”. Disable this and save. This resolved the issue for me.
Another possible solution suggested is that the JPEG images are too big. WP-Smush will compress them. But the main thing that solved it was changing that JetPack setting.

In reply to: [Kale] Slider images are stretchedYes I can, it’s http://www.seagullstreasure.com. The error is in the slider (above featured posts) whenever it is on a mobile device. The only one I know of that has a definitive error is the iPhone SE.
Additionally, In the Kale theme sidebar on the very bottom next to the hide-controls option, there is the option to view the site on desktop, iPad, or mobile. On each of these it looks *correct*. Not sure if that information will help but wanted to relay it. Thanks for looking into this.
