I figured it out. I had a function that needed to be commented out: make_tags_local().

I have three themes: classic, default, mytheme
Theme Name: WordPress Classic
Theme Name: WordPress Default
Theme Name: MyTheme
There must be some discrepancy between the wp.com and my wp.org installation because the theme works on wp.com. I’ve downloaded the latest version to work with. Would the Theme URI throw anything off?
