In reply to: How to change the permalink page address for a single pageIn simply going to that subdirectory of my domain in firefox, it defaults to that page, so I guess it is the frontpage of that subdirectory. It does show the “front page” next to the name. Do you know of a way to edit the permalink?

In reply to: How to change the permalink page address for a single pageThis is not for the first page seen for my website. WordPress is installed in a subdirectory of my domain. It is simply one of the pages I have formed. It is not a blog page.

In reply to: 500 error – will new install over old workProblem Resolved!
I deleted some plugins, and it worked! I can get into the wordpress site. The few hacked files weren’t the problem, it was the jetpack by wordpress.com plugin. I’ve tried to re-install it twice, and still get the 500 internal server error (the current ver. 3.6.1). I am now using Wordfence plugin for security for the future. It found no problems in a scan.

In reply to: Can't backup wp databaseProblem Resolved!
It was my browser. I was using firefox, not an old version (38.0.6). I switched to google chrome and had no issues downloading the database.

In reply to: 500 internal server errorUpdate:
My problem plugin was interesting. Re-installing the latest version of jetpack by wordpress.com (ver 3.6.1) created the 500 internal server error again. I tried twice with the same results. I wonder if that was the reason I couldn’t get in.
I had that plugin and kept it up to date for several years.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: 500 internal server errorThanks!
I was able to get into my wordpress site by deleting the newest plugins from wordpress. I backed up the site prior to doing this, but now things are better. I will be following up on the info from the guide you recommended.
