This is perfect. Thanks! Didn’t see this before. I put the “Popular Searches” widget in my site footer and just wanted to have the text be the same size and color since I use a dark background in the footer and some of the darker fonts are hard to read.
Yes. That is correct. The “PopularSearches” widget

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Appending a hash fragment to pagination linksRegarding the pagination parameter: That explanation makes sense. I get it. Thanks!
Regarding the CSS: Will contact you directly on this point.
Regarding Firefox: Have not seen it crash since when I noted it but will continue to monitor.
Thanks,

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Appending a hash fragment to pagination linksQuick follow up. I definitely think something here is crashing Firefox. I first went to update the page in WordPress Dashboard and then tried to reload the page to see the edits and when I did that, the whole browser crashed.

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Appending a hash fragment to pagination linksHi David
Thank you for the clear directions and details on how to install the “DEV” version of MLA.
I was able to install your DEV version of MLA successfully. It is currently deployed on my site and I will keep it there until I hear back from you in case you want to check code or other related details beyond my knowledge.
Generally speaking, the changes you made to MLA in the “DEV” version appear to be successful. I deployed your [shortcode] suggestion and it seems to be working. When I click on any of the MLA pagination links in the “All” tab, the #all anchor is appended to the end of the URL and the user stays within that tab if clicking any of the MLA pagination links. You should be able to see this when you interact with the page/tab:
https://www.sgclark.com/wallpapers/college/#all
That said, there are a few quirks and questions that I would like to raise:
- I’m using Firefox and a couple of times when interacting with my site and these items the browser has just crashed. I rarely see Firefox crash so bringing this up in case the changes may be triggering this. Further, I have several tabs/pages open along with the one we are testing so I can’t say for sure that the MLA items on my page/site is causing this crash.
- With the new code deployed, I tried interacting with various elements and navigation patterns on the overall page to test behaviors and scenarios. As part of this testing, I did the following:
- I went to the “All” tab and chose different MLA paginated pages to test that the navigation works and I stay on the “All” tab that has the pagination (i.e. – pagination 5, then pagination 13, then pagination 10 within the “All” tab. Example URL –> https://www.sgclark.com/wallpapers/college/?mla_paginate_current=10#all).
- As a test, I would then navigate to another of the ‘main’ tabs outside of the “All” tab (i.e. Not the “All” tab but one of the other main ones like “Division 1”, that has the anchor #d1)
- When I do that, the
?mla_paginate_current=10item will persist in the page URL. (i.e. https://www.sgclark.com/wallpapers/college/?mla_paginate_current=10#d1). Is this intended? Is this preventable? Is there a way to only have this parameter isolated to the “All” tab that has the pagination included? I don’t see any major issues with site behavior but would need to play with it further to rule out any downstream impacts/issues.
- I use CSS to display different shades of grey to the tabs to visually indicate to the user which one is ‘active’. With the changes above currently deployed, I’m observing the main tabs (i.e. Division 1) displaying the same color as the currently active tab (i.e. All) so to the user, it shows that two tabs are active. Sometimes, it eventually leads to all 4 tabs having the same color.
- Would any of the changes deployed or the URL item I previously noted impact the CSS being used for these visual indicators?
- My instinct is no, but when I have removed similar changes previously (before reaching out to this forum and then installing MLA “DEV” version), the tabs and CSS performed without issue.
Is this overall approach – appending the tab’s anchor (in this case #all) as we have done here – the best technical way to approach solving this issue/navigation quirk? Are there other alternatives to consider? I’m not that technically advanced so I am not sure if this proposed approach is good or a hack or somewhere in between, but it seemed the most logical from my POV.
Thanks for your help.
Stephen

In reply to: [Media Library Assistant] Media Bulk Upload: parent update button brokenAlso experiencing this bug. I’ve tested it on Firefox and Brave and it does not work on either.

In reply to: [Twenty Twenty-Four] Gallery block not supporting >2 columnsI’m seeing the same issue in Twenty Twenty Four. I have numerous image galleries on my site (www.sgclark.com/wallpaper/baseball as an example) that use three columns of images. The tabbed content/interface/presentation is generated via the “Ultimate Blocks” plug in and the ‘vertical tabs’ option within that. I’m using the “Shortcode” block within each tab and the shortcode I am using is similar to below. I also use Enhanced Media Library and Media Categories plug-ins.
[gallery link="file" size="medium" orderby="title" columns="3" media_category="2593"]
When I use my current theme (GeneratePress) it works just fine. When I try to switch themes to Twenty Twenty Four or many other themes, the galleries either present the thumbnail images in only one column or they present the images at full size vs. thumbnails, also in one column.
I have tried removing plugins and most other suggestions with no change. Maybe something to look at.

In reply to: [WebFinger] ‘Webfinger end point not accessible’ but no explainerI also host my site at Siteground. I investigated this item further with them and this was the response they provided.
I referenced this link to them which is where they drew the quote/reference noted in their response below. https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/not-working-on-siteground-servers/
@pfefferle is there any chance that a different folder name or option could be used as suggested below
Thank you for reaching out to us with your concerns. I’d like to clarify that we did not make any modifications to the setup of the .well-known folder within our hosting environment. This folder is specifically used for custom verification purposes related to our Let’s Encrypt integration, and unfortunately, we do not permit the execution of custom code from it. The issue you’re encountering with the plugin has been acknowledged by the developer, Matthias Pfefferle, as noted in his response:
SiteGround Customer Support
The plugin generates a rewrite rule for .well-known/webfinger and .well-known/nodeinfo , so there is no “physical” folder, it simply rewrites the requests of these endpoints to the index.php file
It appears that the necessity to add these references and rewrite rules to the .well-known folder could be avoided by choosing an alternative folder name, which would ensure compatibility with our hosting platform. Additionally, it has been mentioned in the support thread that the plugin faces similar issues with other hosting providers as well. It would be beneficial for the developers to reconsider their approach and rename the virtual folder “.well-known” to a different name. By doing so, the custom “webfinger” and “nodeinfo” webhooks should function correctly, allowing the Webfinger plugin to operate seamlessly across various web hosting environments. Thanks

In reply to: Translation File – Not Updating, Not Sure Of OriginFollowing up on this. Any insight onto what is going on with this translation update? Is there somewhere on the doc tree I need to go to remove bad files or something like that?

In reply to: Translation File – Not Updating, Not Sure Of OriginThere is one plug in that I am using which is throwing a flag in “Site Health” because an XSS item is not updated. However, this Translation item has been nagging me for several months and I have just ignored it until now. So my point is I don’t think this plug in issue is triggering the issue.
Apart from that, there are no Site Health issues that seem relevant.
Yes, I can confirm that those icons are selected correctly across all the pages that have the “Tabbed Layout” content for the different devices. I have checked and double checked that previously across all those pages.
And thanks for verifying that it works correctly on your end. So it is clearly something local to my site/pages.
That’s good to know re your CSS and how you define the size of Tablet display. I’ll look at the different CSS files that are attached to my site. There must be a conflict happening somewhere. Its not a ‘showstopper’ issue or am I having anyone complain, but something I had noticed and was trying to figure out how to resolve it.
Thanks for your help.
