So sorry to hear that you had troubles with our free plugin. What exactly was the problem? Sometimes it takes up to 5 minutes for a site to be setup in order to work correctly and unfortunately depending on the hosting environment some things may go wrong that are difficult to predict.

A significant amount of effort was put into this 100% free service and we take pride in ensuring that things work correctly. Feel free to open a support request and we can look further into your issue.

    Thanks!

    Hello!

Very sorry to hear about your troubles.

It looks like the issue resolved itself for you at this point? The test URL works for me :

    https://iwqlex7erah7.cdn.shift8web.com/wp-content/plugins/shift8-cdn/test/test.png

Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes after creating a pull zone as it has to ultimately propagate throughout our network.

Feel free to update again if you are still having issues.

    Hello,

Just checking in to see if you are still experiencing this issue? I believe we may have resolved it via your direct support request?

    Thanks!

Apologies about this. This is connected to a 3rd party mail delivery service that was not functioning and we were not handling the exception correctly.

There may be email delivery issues with the activation email insofar as it might end up in your spam folder.

We are revamping the account verification process to leverage SMS activation and catpcha verification as it has been taken advantage with abuse from automated bots and whatnot.

Either way try regenerating the registration link or if you are having problems please let me know and I can delete your account so that you can re-create it from scratch.

Thank you for letting us know! Again it should be working now (but check your spam)

    Hello!

The link that you provided (the 400 bad request one) is working for me. Is it still producing a problem for you?

IF it is, please confirm the country of origin where you are making this request so I can confirm specifically which endpoint your hitting.

If it is now working, perhaps you made an adjustment to the site settings? When you register on our site to create an account, the site URL is very sensitive to needing to be matched to what you endter in the wordpress plugin settings page.

Even a trailing slash (or lack thereof) could generate a problem. We are working towards making this less sensitive but note that if you register with the following domain :

    yoursite.com/

And then enter the site in the plugin settings as follows :

    yoursite.com

Note the lack of a trailing slash. This is the most common reason for 400 bad request errors that happen. You can see in this support forum it happening quite a bit and it usually is just a minor typo in the site URL.

I could be off base here, but the screenshots you provided show things like icons breaking which really just means we aren’t able to fetch the source url (as it was entered) properly.

If I’m off base, then please clarify further and I’ll try my best to help!

Thank you for using our plugin!

    Hello,

So sorry to hear about your issues. Sometimes this happens when not enough time to propagate your site after first creation.

Another reason is if the site you setup in our dashboard does not match exactly when you setup the wordpress plugin. Most common reasons are a trailing slash is missing either in our dashboard or wordpress plugin settings.

I see you moved to another service anyway so I will close this ticket but feel free to reach out if you want to give our service another try.

    Thank you!

    Hello,

If SSL weren’t a requirement (which it is), you could simply make a DNS CNAME of whatever host and point it to the hostname of your unique CDN url.

But our endpoints have SSL configured with our own hostnames. We would need to modify our system to allow people who do this to upload their own SSL and have our systems also validate the SSL and warn users when SSLs expire, and many many more things.

This being a (primarily) free service, that is quite a bit of workload that we do not have the bandwidth for at this stage.

Thank you for your interest – if this changes and we offer it in the future, we will definitely let our users know!

The originating test URL works for me when checked. Most common reasons for this happening :

    • After site creation in our dashboard and plugin setup, it sometimes takes 5 minutes or longer for our network to propagate
    • The url has to match EXACTLY how it was configured in our dashboard. Sometimes people enter http://www.domain.com/ in the dashboard, then enter http://www.domain.com (note the lack of trailing slash). This can cause the issue because our system is very sensitive and url needs to match exactly
    • Your web server / web host is blocking fetch requests from our CDN endpoints because it thinks its automated traffic and needs to be whitelisted

I hope this helps, but since the original test url mentioned here now works ill just close this issue.

    Thanks for using our service!

Ah interesting. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I’ll look further into this.

I imagine how the rewrite rules for your site may play a role in how this works ultimately, for example nginx or apache rewrite rules are typically designed to rewrite queries through an index.php. Thats not to say its not a problem with the plugin.

Let me try to reproduce this locally and I’ll update this issue when I know more.

    Thanks again!

    Felix,

So sorry about this! Our system has grown quite a bit as the popularity of this plugin has increased.

So that 5 minute queue for new sites to populate through the network has inflated as you discovered.

I’ll make sure we look into ways to make that initial propagation a bit faster but its always a challenge with a free service!

    Thank you!

    Hello!

Sorry to hear about the issues you are experiencing. Are you able to navigate to our plugin settings in WP Admin dashboard, navigate to the “Support” tab, and copy the debug info and paste here?

Sometimes when this happens it is because another plugin (i.e. caching) may be conflicting and causing an issue with how the site loads.

I’ll try my best to help you either way!

    Hello!

Appreciate the interest! Unfortunately our dashboard and billing only work with Stripe as a merchant service provider.

Thats not to say in the future we wouldn’t consider offering more options, it is unfortunately not possible to update our accounting process to accommodate at this stage.

    Thank you!

Glad you got it working! This url ignore field you found is a new feature.

Thank you for using our service!
