Just seen issue already raised: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/month-text-invisible-on-calendar-view-in-safari/
I’m running dev version 7.2.2.3 with the regular calendar and events on the last day of the month are showing (repeating and not repeating).
I’m running dev version 7.2.2.3 and this is no longer an issue.
@msykes, thanks for pointing this out – I had no idea that just clicking update without changing the schedule would do this. Is this specific behaviour described anywhere as this has large implications? Should the recurrence that has been restored from the bin be marked as draft as that is what happens when manually restoring?
I ran another test and detached a recurrence and then edited the repeating event and clicked update. When checking the recurrences, the event I had detached was put back as a recurrence. Running the test again, I detached and this time edited the detached event making a change to it, then edited the repeating event clicking update. This time the detached event was not put back as a recurrence. Why would making a change to the detached event prevent this? Surely the moment you detach an event it is an individual event and should not be put back even if it has not been edited?
Thanks.
@msykes, I did a little more testing and what I said above is incorrect. In 6.6.4.4 I created a new recurring event and then binned one of the recurrences. I then edited the recurring event making no changes to the schedule or any of its data, simply clicking the update button. I then checked the recurrences and the binned event had been recreated. So this is a bug in v6 not just v7.
I just tested v7.2.2.3 and it has indeed removed the parents out of lists.
Hi @msykes,
Yes, prior to v7, update never recreated all events based upon the schedule unless you changed the schedule but in v7 it did, hence my comment incase this was new functionality.
The only issue with updating is that it will remove all existing events in that set and recreate them thus putting back any you binned, detached or modified.
The ‘fix’ is to edit a repeating event parent and click the update button as Marcus described in https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/upgraded-to-7-1-7-and-every-repeating-event-shows-the-adult-and-child-event/. However the problem with this is that it will remove all existing events in that set and recreate all events thus putting back any events you had binned, detached or modified.
I have 4 pages of repeating events and don’t really want to have to do this so I’ll wait for a proper fix to appear before I update to v7.
I just found this topic: https://ww.wp.xz.cn/support/topic/upgraded-to-7-1-7-and-every-repeating-event-shows-the-adult-and-child-event/
I edited a few repeating events and just clicked the update button each time and the parents were no longer displayed so this seems to be a fix. You might want to test it on a staging site first.
It’s a bug. I just updated and all the existing parent repeating events are displayed in any grid/list before the actual individual events. The dates are for the entire date range of the repeating event and if you click on one it just takes you to the home page. Someone else has raised this too.
This is only happening with existing recurring events after the update to v7. Creating a new repeating event after the update to v7 does not show the repeating event parent in grids and lists.
Hi,
I’ve just upgraded from v6.6.4.4 to v7.2.2.1 on a staging site and event grid and list displays (whether created via shortcodes or when the calendar display is changed to these types of display) now show all the repeating event ‘parents’ at the top before the individual ‘child’ events that should be shown. Clicking on these parents takes you to the home page.
If there is a fix for this please let me know as grid and list displays are the majority of displays on the website.
Thanks
EM imposes a default limit on the number of events returned in a list, 10. To change this go to EM settings > Pages tab > Events List/Archive and then scroll down to the section labelled ‘Default event list options’. At the bottom of that is the Event List Limit field. Set this to 0 to show all events.
If you get too many to scroll through you could add limit=10 pagination=1 to the shortcode, which will then display the pagination control at the bottom of the list with the number of calculated pages people can scroll through. The value for limit= can be set to anything.
Brilliant, thanks for contacting him
