Same problem here.
In Events -> Settings -> Viewing Settings -> Calendar page I had “Events” selected.
On my “Events” Page I was using the shortcode and the calendar only showed once.
Now since WP4.7 I have selected a new page (which is really unused) and now my normal Events page is back to normal – only one calendar showing.

I can confirm that the translations I made by editing the .po files in the theme ./language/ directory are being used, so I guess that’s WPML switching language ‘correctly’. But if not, how can I check?
