It appears that one product was causing an issue. I moved each product to a different category to see what would happen and was able to identify one that was causing the issue. Once I deleted that product it seems to be working now.
For anyone else looking for the same functionality, I think this plug-in may work:

I just created an author role, but unfortunately, that role still has access to the media files used in the site. I need to be able to create individual media files or folders that only that particular author has access to. When logged in, they should not be able to see or access any other media other than what they have uploaded.
I’ll start checking gallery plug-ins to see if there is anything there.
Thank you. I was not sure if the role of author allowed access to individual media files vs site wide media files.
