I have tried that when debug was online but I don’t see the comment (https://mastodon.social/@skariko/115735864253568295) on inbox but only on Friends / External (see the date):

    Hello,
on “Inbox” there is only one [Create] with this:

    Hello @akirk ,

the blog is new so I’m doing tests on my own and I did them all using Mastodon’s normal reply function after searching for the post, and I also tried from NodeBB. In both cases, I simply pressed the “Reply” button and left the default structure intact:

    https://mastodon.social/@[email protected]/115723733933877994

    https://citiverse.it/topic/13feb88a-d3d4-45bf-b9c4-d11943c0176f/yoota-weekly-0-15-dicembre-2025

As you can see, where the user is also mentioned, the reply isn’t visible on the blog, while the only two where I manually deleted the mention are.

I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong but the installation is recent and I currently have no active plugins besides these for ActivityPub and the recommended ones, namely Friends and WebFinger. I had one for LitespeedCache which I soon disabled and deleted because I don’t need it anyway.

Great, thanks, I had missed this part.

I am doing some tests with the plugin disabled and indeed, at least for now, all the posts (even the older ones) seem to be visible through search.

    Yep, actually I use Flyingpress.

Are there any known difficulties/problems with caching plugins?

Is there perhaps one that is more recommended/compatible than others?

    Thank you!

    hello @pfefferle ,

    what I expect is this:

I login to my Mastodon account, let’s say I’m on mastodon.social, and I search for the URL of an article from that federated blog. I expect to be able to see it among the search results, to be able to click on it, and to be able to comment on that post through my Mastodon account.

This sometimes works, for example a few days ago I managed to comment on this very old post: https://www.lealternative.net/2023/02/13/gmaps-wv/ by doing exactly that.

But now if I search for that URL on various servers I get “no results” instead.

This morning when I searched for this: https://www.lealternative.net/2022/03/11/neocities/ I found it among the search results of mastodon.social while now it says “No results”.

So I was just trying to understand what the correct behavior is because I can’t quite interpret why sometimes the search for a URL shows up while other times it doesn’t, but maybe there are just limitations in the search of the various servers.

I reply to myself: three days later and without making any changes, now it’s possible to search all the blog posts, even the older ones.

So I guess it’s just a matter of time (I have more than a thousand published articles).

    (@skariko)

Perfect, thank you very much, I solved it by disabling the option in the “Really Simple Security” plugin in case it happens to someone else.

Thank you very much. It is not entirely clear to me why another WordPress blog manages to post on the same Lemmy server instead.

Anyway thanks, I’ll wait to install the next Lemmy release to see if it gets fixed with this fix!

    hello @mej ,
since I switched to PHP 8.0 the problem seems to have been solved.

    Thread Starter Enhance

    (@skariko)

hello @mej and thank you for your reply!

If I can give any other information that might be useful for debugging please let me know. I am currently on PHP 7.4 although I should be upgrading to 8.0 soon.

Am I the only one with this error? Is there anything I can try to do to solve it?

    Thread Starter Enhance

    (@skariko)

yes I know thank you, unfortunately I’ve been using Footnotes for a long time so I can’t change now (( )) to other symbols!

I can definitely purposely misspell the PHP code so I don’t have the problem, for example writing ( ( but it seemed fair to point it out!

    Thanks!

    (@skariko)

hi Patrick and thank you in the meantime for your response.

The problem is related to a single post where I would need to write and display some PHP code which, unfortunately, has (( and )) inside it. On the whole site I have already used (( )) many times for footnotes so I cannot change the begin and end of the footnotes.

For this reason I was wondering if it would be possible to exclude Footnotes from a single article or possibly a single category so I could solve this problem.

Alternatively I was also thinking of trying to have it exclude the inside of “<code>” but I couldn’t.

    Any other workarounds are welcome.

    Thanks!
