What is my web server access log; that is if I am to go there to check something?
Some one suggested I look at Settings>Permalinks and see if I have an error message there. It came to nothing on my site but maybe its good for you.
I have just gone back to the default wordpress page and all works well there!
So my problem, it seems, must lie with the template I’m using; onwards and upwards!!!!!!
Any new thoughts?

Did you find a solution to your 404 error notice as I have exactly the same problem!!!!!!!
I have looked at all your responses and tried them out to no effect; I am so stressed out
