In reply to: [WooCommerce] REST API documentation and official librariesWell, yes, I’m aware it is the most up to date documentation available, as in more than 2 years ago up to date.
I tried asking in every WooCommerce community there is for help, but got nothing.

In reply to: [WooCommerce] WooCommerce: critical error in plugin activationHad same problem. What worked for me was to first install Action Scheduler 3.1.4 as described here: https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/issues/25895#issuecomment-742461254

In reply to: Yearly event websiteI don’t know all the details yet actually. Still trying to figure out how much work it will be to give them a quote and see if they will hire me for the job. Here’s what I know:
There’s a good amount of content each year. Maybe around 10 pages of things like schedule, tickets, speakers, sponsors, gallery. So the content would change each year.
So there would be for example eventsite.com/2019/speakers or 2019.eventsite.com/speakers
The site is also multi language. Although I don’t know what plugin they’re using for it.
I don’t think the previous years will be active. They just want an archive which people can look at for historical purposes.
It can be assumed that new years won’t pull anything from past years.
About the external links, I assume they would want the external links to go to their respective years. Which I see as a problem and which is why I mentioned that changing the domain each year to be a bad idea instead of having the year from the beginning. An external link like eventsite.com/speakers that originally referred to 2018 wouldn’t be able to be redirected to 2018.eventsite.com/speakers because then eventsite.com/speakers for the current year couldn’t be accessed.
So I’m trying to figure out what is possible and what is not, and then depending on what I decide will work, then maybe I’ll have to try to convince them to things in a different way than they had envisioned.

In reply to: [Boxzilla - WordPress Popup Builder] Cookie expiration settingsI understand that part, but what after? How else could the popup go away if not dismissed? Assume the user closes the window? Because why would someone stay on a page they can’t see because there’s a popup on there? So that’s why I don’t get the need to have a second expiration time ;p
If the user fills in the form, then they shouldn’t get the popup anymore. The only other thing I can think of is if the user scrolls down and the popup goes away.

In reply to: [Hitchcock] Font Awesome CSS Lost in Child ThemeThanks @chris1030 ! That helped.
The theme is based on underscores actually. And this part comes from the underscores original set up. So maybe that’s why it was done that way since underscores wasn’t meant to be used as a parent theme.

In reply to: remove feature contentIt doesn’t sound like a very reliable theme. But I guess you can modify the front-page.php yourself then.

And you don’t know what it means to be an admin? 🙂
If you can log in to the backend of the site as you have been doing, then YOU are the admin. And if by wordpress you mean the forum you are posting on at ww.wp.xz.cn, then yes, it is just users helping users.

In reply to: custom-background in home page onlyIt sure is far simpler to do it through CSS for me as the developer, but not for the end user. In fact, I currently have it with CSS as a temporary solution, but the owner of the site should be able to change the picture from the admin panel without touching any code.
I’m trying to make it work with WordPress’ built in features without having to use a plug in. And I wouldn’t want to make the image load on all pages and hide it with CSS on all pages except the home page.

Forum: Installing WordPress
In reply to: Where to start?I actually use WAMP since I have windows. But yea, these vs XAMPP or others is mostly a matter of preference. I’m sure they each do some things better and some things worse than the others.
The same with developing locally on one of these solutions vs developing on an online server. Each has it’s ups and downs. I have hosting space online for my sites which I could also use for developing sites, but I prefer to do it locally on my pc with WAMP and then upload when done.
For me the main thing for choosing to work on WAMP is to save a few seconds of uploading each time I press the save button. And not having to connect to the online server every time I want to start working. Also to keep my online server cleaner.
But for you it might be easier to develop the site online if you can get the hosting now. And then just change the domain.
