My host (pair) sent me this explanation for CHMODing my entire site 000:

    ———————-
The permissions change came from the wordpress site driving the server
load to unsafe levels. The package was creating connections to itself and
driving the load to high. This affected server performance and other
    customer sites.

Not sure how Subversion updating would cause this. Here’s the command I used: svn sw http://core.svn.ww.wp.xz.cn/tags/3.0/ .

    Am I doing this wrong?

I can’t (couldn’t) touch anything via FTP, telnet, etc. But I just now logged in to my host account and saw that the CHMOD for my site was set to 000. Changed it to 755 and everything is almost back to normal. I will ask support what happened. If it matters I’ve had problems with Superb Slideshow before but am still not sure if that was the problem…

    Thanks!

Apparently it was a path problem that occurred during the move. Fixed it in Settings/Miscellaneous – uploads path.

Thank you for your input – it is always appreciated even if not enough people mention that fact!

I’ll jump in here. I’m helping CMyers figure this out. She is hosted at WebHost4Life who is currently involved in a huge transition to new servers, control panel, etc but the site has already been transitioned so I’m not sure if that’s the problem although I’ve been caught in some sort of limbo as to getting help from WebHost4Life – told to contact “the new support team”.

Anyway, I can create new directories, i.e. wp-contents/uploads/2010/05 where the images can be FTPed but do not show up in the WP Admin. All directories show as 0755 chmod.
