I ran the debug tool and it said that “everything looks great”. However, I’m still concerned about the orphaned options that Jetpack is creating. Is this going to be a regular issue? These orphaned options really add to the size of my database and I don’t really want to go in and delete orphaned options on a regular basis.
That said, the addition of new orphaned options by Jetpack seems to have stopped (though possibly temporarily?), so I’m assuming it was because I was deleting them during a Jetpack scheduled full sync. How often does Jetpack run a full sync?
I’m not sure what are the implications of the debug report you ran:
“In any case, there’s certainly a discrepancy noted in the debug:
Queued up: 42844 items
Sent: 39582 items”What could that mean?
Thanks for your help, but I’m still not really sure how I should go about optimizing Jetpack to minimize my server load and increase my site speed. I can delete scheduled chron tasks, so if needed I will delete the “jetpack_sync_cron” and “jetpack_sync_full_cron” tasks, which are scheduled every 5 minutes (seems excessive to me). What would be the consequence of doing so?
Problem solved… The issue was that I didn’t have the options for “include in site map” enabled on the individual categories. Once I enabled that, I found that several categories had “never include in site map” selected.
Hi, I just want to be sure that deleting the old directories is safe. When browsing my site via FTP, I found that most of the directories with an ” – old” prefix are empty. However, one called “wptouch-data-old”, has a bunch of folders in it. There is another directory called “wptouch-data” that looks like it has the same files but I’m not sure if they are the same or not. I’m a little hesitant deleting the old directories since now I’m not sure if I’ll be able to restore the site from my backups if something goes wrong…
As for the table prefix, I opened up my wp-config file and found this:
/**
* WordPress Database Table prefix.
*
* You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique
* prefix. Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!
*/
$table_prefix = ‘wp_gvdb_’;So it looks like there is a prefix, correct? Thanks for your help, I’d really like to get this worked out. Up to now, the plugin has worked great, and I don’t really want to use something else.

In reply to: [Download Manager] Breaks my siteAfter disabling all plugins, I discovered that the issue is with WPDM and W3 Total Cache. WPDM works with W3 Total Cache disabled, but posts where the WPDM shortcode is included results in a 500 server error when W3TC is activated. I want to keep using W3TC and WPDM, is there any solution to this problem?

In reply to: Google search shows author page instead of home pageThese forums provide support for WordPress, and your issue primarily has to do with how Google works. I don’t think it’s any easy fix at all – and it depends on many variables – most of which have to do with Google, not WordPress.
Thank you, that helps a lot. Now I know at least where to start.
So going back to your question on WP side of things, are you using an SEO plugin – that might help:
Yes, I am using Yoast SEO, and Google XML site maps plugins
BTW, when I searched for “circuit basics” the first one I got related to you is your Twitter page, and the second, the About page of your site.
Okay, good to know… It has changed several times since I first posted. I think it’s because I no indexed everything except for my posts and pages. Just still can’t get my homepage to show up…
As this seems to be related to google, that means there is much more researching I need to so to find a solution than if it were WP related and i still have no clue how to even begin finding an answer. So if anyone has had this issue before, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

In reply to: Google search shows author page instead of home pageYes I have an account at google webmaster tools. But I am a beginner at this and don’t have time to sort though tons of support pages and spend hundreds of hours researching the solution to this problem, which is probably common and has an easy fix. I am sure somebody here has the knowledge or experience to point me in the right direction…

In reply to: Google search shows author page instead of home pageOkay, I tried searching for “circuit basics” (the term I am trying to rank for) on another computer and I did only see the category page in the results as you saw.
What if I tried noindexing all of my pages except for the home page and the posts? Would that negatively effect my ranking?
How do other sites control what page is listed I. Google as their main site page? Do we have any control over that? I see a lot of pages with nicely formatted search results for their home page, just wondering how to do that?
Still trying to find a solution to this problem… Can anybody help?
