I updated all plugins on our site today (including updates to ACF and NextGEN plugins) and am no longer experiencing the disappearing featured image when editing ACF fields in posts. With the following combination of plugins the post editing seems to have returned to normal, with featured images remaining in place in both front & back end:
- ACF 6.3.0
- NextGEN Gallery 3.59.3
- NextGEN Pro 3.31.2
- Elementor 3.21.8
- Elementor Pro 3.21.3
- WP 6.5.3 / Hello Elementor Theme 3.0.2
Can anyone else confirm this on their end?
@jaimeimagely – Do you have an update for us and/or timeline for sharing the fix for this issue?
@jaimeimagely – please provide an update on this issue. This thread is 2 months old with no indication from your team that you’re even working on the resolution.
@jaimeimagely – we’re waiting patiently for this fix, but patience is running thin – particularly from our clients who are needing to deal with these missing featured images whenever they’re editing. Please confirm that this fix is in the cue for your next plugin update release and what that timing will be – and/or can your team provide in advance of that release the specific code adjustments that we can make manually before your next official update? We’ve been longtime NextGEN supporters but we’re losing faith in your team’s ability to work through this issue and your commitment to respond to ongoing needs of your customers.
Glad I found this thread. I, too, am experiencing this. Editing a custom field and clicking update in WP editor makes the WP featured image disappear from editor and front end. WP v6.4.3…ACF v6.2.7…NextGen v3.59…NextGenPro v3.31…ElementorPro v3.31.
There seems to be a route to get the Featured Image to stick if you select the featured image through the NextGen Featured Image selector in the post editor…but it only seems to work if you can select the image from an existing NextGen gallery vs. using the NextGen selector to select an image from the WP Media Library. This alternative route of selecting via NextGen selector also seems to cause the WP featured image selector to be disabled. Attempts to replace the NextGen featured image with a WP Media Library image have been unsuccessful. The NextGen Gallery selected images remains and is not replaced by the WP Featured Image selector.
How soon will there be a fix for this? We have clients needing to fix the featured image every time they edit a post.

In reply to: Power Outage Now Category Pages No Longer DisplayI think I’ve solved this. Though my Mac has a local install of WP via MAMP, the theme refers to URLs out on the internet for proper display. In power failure the internet connection was interrupted/eliminated. Once I connected to internet again the category display pages came back to life.

In reply to: Category Pages No Longer Display after 3.0.4 Upgradeesmi – thanks for the note. I have deactivated all plug-ins and removed the plugins folder via ftp with no change. I did try an alternative theme (Arras) and category pages definitely DID work through that theme that I tested. So, it seems it is a conflict with my BlueLeather theme files somehow. Any ideas what to look for in my theme files? Something that has changed in recent upgrades of WP that may need to be updated in my theme files? Which file should I be looking at that play a role in generating category pages? I can certainly switch to a more friendly theme, but am hoping to avoid that if possible.
