I can’t afford WPEngine hosting right now :-/ I’m on Hostgator but that’s good to know for future use. I need to do this for free if possible. Thanks for the tips though appreciate it
for anyone reading, while waiting for a response I continued to fiddle with it. I had another different old maintenance plugin also installed but not active. I deleted that and all it’s files then I deactivated the Maintenance plugin and reactivated it.
It did the trick and is now active on mobiles also.
