It might be something due to my config because the option is there but grayed out. I’ll have to check in with the hosts some day when I come up for air, but at least we’ve ruled things out on your end! Thank you for what you do!

Thank you so much! I just went and re-enabled the plugin by using โ€œinline and defer CSSโ€ in auto-optimize. This activates critical css, as you know and the minute I did the following page shifted to a corrupted menu and css.

The odd thing is that nothing else changed except my theme, plugin updates, and woocommerce updates. I didnโ€™t go into autoptimize or critical css and change any of the settings.

After I discovered my pages were corrupt, I emptied all caches – cloudflare, w3tc, and autooptimize, turned off critical css to verify all was well, then turned it back on – and once again, things are back to โ€œunnormalโ€

Thank you for your help! It is late here so I’ll check back tomorrow.
    Ann

ps – how do I sned you screenshots?

    Hi Frank,

Your plugin is fine (of course!). I discovered that I was bombarding my server with a combination of critical css, warm cache, and clicking on over a 100 pages from multiple tabs which eventually triggered them to put up a firewall for ten minutes at a time! So all is well, and thank you once again for your time. We can close this.

If possible, can you tell me before you do – When it is appropriate to delete rules, purge caches and re-trigger the rules. For example, do I have to do that each time I add a new page, or each time I change css on an old page? Thanks!

I may have spoken too soon… things are hanging again. I’m going to do some more research. Sorry about this!

Hi Frank – Found the issue. Since my last retriggering of critical CSS, I had installed a warm-cache plugin. Between its requests to the server and the criticalness requests, I was overloading the server. So I disabled warm cache and now things appear to be working. Your plugin is great! I just have a huge site and so retriggering rules on all 2200+ pages is a bit intense! Thank you again for the support! We can close this.

Hi Frank, I just talked to my server folks and there were some issues on their side. It is possible that the usual processing with criticalness didn’t run last night. I’m going to let it run and get back to you, so no need for more debug at present. Thanks for your incredible support.

Hi Frank, Two rules appeared since we talked. I did recheck on the pages again so that may have triggered it. However I did that last night as well and they weren’t triggered. All are auto. When everything runs I used to have 5 total auto rules. At the moment there are tons of pages in the queue – I have over 1600 blog posts that get requeued it seems every time I delete rules.

Thank you Frank, perhaps it came with a theme update recently ๐Ÿ™‚ Your plugin is really amazing and I appreciate the great support! I think we can close this one!

Woo hoo! That seems to have solved the button problem! Thank you! I did as you said – (1) removed the wp-content/uploads from the exclusion list (2) removed the css rules (3) purged all caches, turned off page cache and reclicked on all pages (3) turned on page cache. Buttons are now working great!

I have only one more theme style anomaly that I’m clueless about. I’ve verified that it is not a problem when the plugin is off.

Pages (excluding the front page) on Safari browser have a 50px padding at the top. This is one example:

    https://www.visionsofheaven.com/newsletter

On Chrome they do not have the padding. I went to look at the code and the body declaration has different tags in different browsers. As you can see in Safari there is a padding tag being added among a few other things:

    Safari –
    <body data-rsssl=”1″ class=”page-template page-template-100-width page-template-100-width-php page page-id-223 woocommerce-js fusion-image-hovers fusion-body ltr no-tablet-sticky-header no-mobile-sticky-header no-mobile-slidingbar mobile-logo-pos-left layout-wide-mode fusion-top-header menu-text-align-center fusion-woo-product-design-clean mobile-menu-design-modern fusion-show-pagination-text fusion-header-layout-v2 avada-responsive avada-footer-fx-none fusion-search-form-classic fusion-avatar-square do-animate” style=”zoom: 1; padding-top: 50px; height: auto;”>

    Chrome –
    admin-bar no-customize-support woocommerce-no-js fusion-image-hovers fusion-body ltr no-tablet-sticky-header no-mobile-sticky-header no-mobile-slidingbar mobile-logo-pos-left layout-wide-mode fusion-top-header menu-text-align-center fusion-woo-product-design-clean mobile-menu-design-modern fusion-show-pagination-text fusion-header-layout-v2 avada-responsive avada-footer-fx-none fusion-search-form-classic fusion-avatar-square”>

I don’t know if it has to do with this “Review” request in criticalCSS:
    R is_page ccss_6496b7c3850c25fe83f1bd207ed44278_R.css

Do you know where I’d begin to look to solve this? Thank you again for your help!

If I remove all the theme’s css file rules, then will they be regenerated when I turn off page cache and reclick? I don’t know which one has the code affecting my page.

I went to delete one and got the messages “This Critical CSS rule will be deleted immediately and cannot be recovered” so I held off for now. By “cannot be recovered” does that mean I’ll not be able to regenerate? Sorry for my ignorance!
