This is also happening to one of my sites.

I use the Facebook Connect plugin and have a FB fan page box on the site.

On 18 April the stats started to climb unusually—from around 25,000 page views a day to over 50,000.

I suspected it was something to do with changes at Facebook’s back end?

It’s stopped working in 2.8.6 as well. I’m using the latest version of Twitme. No idea why this has happened.

I’m having the same problem. It renders an otherwise good plugin virtually useless.

So … no ideas from other readers?
