Okay, thank you for your prompt reply. I have requested help from WordPress.com, however, they are completely non-responsive. I don’t know what else to do. If you can recommend any third party WordPress.com support, specifically with domain registration, that would be great. I deeply regret registering my domain with WordPress.com and will never do so again with any future blogs. Nor will I recommend WordPress.com. 🙁

But I do appreciate your help, regardless.

Okay. So what happened? How did it get corrupted?

BTW, the problem is intermittent. It crashes about every third time or so I try to access my site or do any updates if I’m lucky enough to make it to the admin screens.

Thank you both for responding so quickly. Your links to those threads were quite helpful. YES, it turns out I was hacked! And yes, I’m hosted on Godaddy. I fixed the problem by removing the offending code from my header.php file. And then I called Godaddy to report the problem and ask their advice, but the guy in support I talked to knew nothing about it. Which is weird because when I goggled it, there are articles on the Web about this very problem dating back to last fall. The Godaddy guy just told me to just make sure that all my WP, theme, and plugin code was always up-to-date and that should keep the hackers away. WHen I explained that my code is always up-to-date he just said he didn’t know what else to tell me.

I will continue to read all the links you’ve provided, but in the mean time, do you have any additional information about how to prevent this from happening? I’m not even sure how I became vulnerable to it in the first place. It’s pretty creepy, actually.
