In reply to: Notice of password change email every time user profile updatedThanks Adam, that worked perfectly. I appreciate the screenshot as that helped a lot finding the particular setting.

In reply to: Notice of password change email every time user profile updatedThanks, I did just go ahead and log out of LastPass but that didn’t seem to help. I added exceptions up the wahoo before I logged out to no avail. I made a lot of changes to the settings in chrome re logging in and passwords which didn’t seem to help. The thing that finally did the trick I think was “more tools” and “clear browsing data” to include passwords and autofills from “the beginning of time” LOL That in itself didn’t work. I had to actually close the browser and restart it and then like magic I didn’t get a notice that I’d changed my password. Haven’t tested it with anyone else’s profile yet, but I think this will do the trick. AS A TEMPORARY WORK AROUND! only! I got LastPass for a reason and I want to use it. As I imagine others want to use their browser extensions to save passwords. So I do hope they fix this. It’s a MAJOR problem.
Anyway, thanks for the help!

In reply to: Notice of password change email every time user profile updatedAny idea how to work around this or if anything is being done about it? I’m also having this problem, which basically means I can’t make any updates to members profiles without them having to reset their password. If it’s a browser issue filling in the hidden values, then basically every time I update a user’s profile I’m changing their password to MY password?
I have LastPass, so I don’t need the browser to save any passwords… can I dump some password cache or something to stop this behavior? I tried unchecking the setting in both chrome and firefox, but it still sends me notices so I’m guessing that it’s going by some cache?
Any help is appreciated.

In reply to: [Event Organiser] WP 4.2.2 issues: categories, Google MapsI’m also having the same issues. The google map doesn’t show correctly when selecting the venue and the filtering does not work for categories or venues. This just occurred after the 4.2.2 update.

In reply to: Edit Pages shows no links but my pages are still thereok, after an exhausting 2+ hour session deactivating 33 plugins and activating them one by one with a server that is slower than molasses running uphill in January, it appears that mCatFilter is the culprit. It was just updated on the 13th, so that fits in with why it all worked until now.
I put a comment in on the plugin’s website and I’ll see what happens. That particular plugin surprised me because it just excludes categories from the front news page… I can’t see how it has to do with the edit-pages.php but whatever.
Re the theme… I’d still love to know how a theme can *suddenly* interfere with the admin portion of a website when neither the theme nor WP have been updated.
So for anyone else coming across this problem… if you have mCatFilter as one of your plugins, that may be one of the first ones to try deactivating.
Trying to think of how to avoid this headache in the future, I think I may just do one update a day so that I can make sure that it doesn’t affect anything. AND make my weekly backups of the wp-content folder into 2 different folders so that I will always have the prior version.
My problem this time was that I unthinkingly just updated 6 plugins automatically, one right after the other.
I guess the caution here is that while the automatic update of plugins is a VERY convenient feature… it can also cause some BIG headaches. Learned some hard lessons, but hopefully someone else can get some benefit out of it.
Thanks esme for trying to help!

In reply to: Edit Pages shows no links but my pages are still thereThanks for the reply esmi,
As I said in my original post I haven’t deactivated EVERY plugin. I was hoping that someone might have some insight without having to do that. This is a working website and I didn’t want to have to take it offline if I didn’t have to.
For the same reason I haven’t switched themes — especially since I can’t see HOW it could be a theme related problem, when this problem appeared suddenly and I have been using the same theme for over 6 months. I haven’t updated it or anything.
I had planned to try the plugin elimination route in the wee hours tonite/tomorrow morning, but I thought I’d ask here before then in the hopes that I wouldn’t have to do it. Oh well, I guess I will have to.
If someone has any ideas OTHER than deactivating plugins, I’d really appreciate it… I’ll report back about the plugins later.

In reply to: Edit Pages shows no links but my pages are still thereHi graffxguy,
What function was screwing up the query? I’m having this same problem all of a sudden. I haven’t been working with the core files, so I don’t know where this is coming from. Is this a function that you coded in yourself? Or a plugin? Thanks for any ideas
