Well I solved it. If anyone has similar problems here’s what I did: I just deleted the contents of my htacess file and saved it as a blank file. Bingo, everything started working again.
Well, I did a completely fresh reinstallation thinking that would fix things but I still have the same problem. Actually, the dashboard is back to normal, but all images are still broken.
I can’t even see the thumbnails of the themes in the dashboard:
