In reply to: [Fluid Responsive Slideshow] FR Slideshow not working with themeHello Alzea
I wasn’t using the same theme as Yoshaj. It was a home-grown theme based on twenty ten. In the end I couldn’t get it to work (showed up in back office but not on public site) so I had to find another version. Thanks anyway for your concern.

In reply to: [Send Images to RSS] Slow production of feed pageThanks Robin. I’ll wait and see if the next blog goes out OK before progressively increasing the number of posts in the feed. Thanks also for your other suggestion. We are heading towards a Mailchimp solution at present but I’ll see if Feedly could be a useful additional service.

In reply to: [Send Images to RSS] Slow production of feed pageHi Robin. Thanks for coming back to me. I reduced the number of syndication feeds (from 10) and, as you suggested, the fewer there are the quicker the feed loads. The other factor that you may need to be aware of is that I am using the Responsify WP plugin to make the pics responsive, with the following possibilities
thumbnail (150 x 150 px)
medium (300 x 300 px)
large (1024 x 1024 px)
big (450)
bigger (750)
larger (1600)
huge (2000)
post-thumbnail (350) for a special purpose
mailchimp
full
I don’t know if this has an effect. The feed is hipparis/feedThanks for your help.

In reply to: [Stellar Places] conflict with TheTheFly Image slider 1.1.6 pluginSo am I now! But before contacting you I had spent some time experimenting and not seeing the map; it was only when I disbled the plugins that it appeared. I made it disappear and reappear…
Perhaps it was out internet connection, which is flakey at present.
Anyway, I think you can mark this as user error… Sorry to have troubled you

In reply to: [Stellar Places] conflict with TheTheFly Image slider 1.1.6 pluginThanks for the feedback. I’m sure that you are right about TheTheFly. If you want to see the Stellar map it is here (or would be if there wasn’t the conflict)
http://www.pyreneanway.com/test-stellar-map/and an example of TheThefly is here
http://www.pyreneanway.com/pyrenees-diaporama/I expect I may have to change to Soliloquy at some time, but I’ve used TheTheFly on loads of sites..
Hi Nico
Thanks for the plugin. I like the simplicity. One problem: I have a French version of WordPress but the French translation isn’t being used. (I do have the .mo and .po files in the languages sub-directory of advanced-responsive-video-embedder.)
Thanks in advance for your help.Just to reply to my own question. I had a serious misunderstanding of what the plugin shortcode was supposed to do. Sorry about that. I thought it would enable me to put a single episode on a page, not just a link to ALL the podcasts (via various intermediary pages), which is why I never tried [ss_podcast] without any parameters.
[ss_podcast] does work on its own.
However, I still want to have an individual episode on a page with other text, and not have to go through various pages to arrive at the audio.
Any help would be appreciated, Hugh – please see my email

In reply to: [HTML5 jQuery Audio Player] Field 'total_votes' doesn't have a default valueI had this problem with running the plugin on Webmatrix on localhost (IIS). However, when I uploaded the plugin to a linux server it worked – that is to say I didn’t get this error message.
Hello Hugh
The plugin looks just what I want but I need to embed it in a page. I’ve looked at the above but fail to see how to add the simplest shortcode to bring up the default player. I thought this would work[ss_podcast title=”TITLE”]
but I can’t work out where to find the title! The only thing I can find is the id of the audio in the source code: id=”audio-157-1″ but that isn’t a title…
thanks in advance

In reply to: [Fluid Responsive Slideshow] Trouble following the user guide…I also had some difficulty following the instructions so I have made them more explicit. I hope this is helpful.
Let’s assume you want to create a slideshow called “Street Photography” which contains 5 different pictures about street photography.
1. Firstly you need to create a slide collection to house all your slides for this slideshow. We call slide collections “Slide Types”.
Click “Slide Type” and then fill in the form on the left labelled “Add New Slide Type”. Give your new slide type the name of “Street Photography”, for example, with a slug of “street-photography”. Do not use accents or spaces in the slug.
2. Upload all the 5 pictures to the WordPress Media Gallery. You do this by clicking on Media, Add and selecting the photos on your computer. Note that the slides all need to have the same aspect ratio. Otherwise parts of the largest slide will show below the others.
3. Go to Fluid Responsive Slideshow. Click on Add Slide (near the top). Enter a title (e.g. “The Sitting Man”) in the box where you would normally enter the title of the article. This will be the title of the slide. If you want a description to appear below the title you should enter it in the text area. Do not put anything else in this area.
4. Click the set featured image link (bottom right). Select the sitting man image from media library by clicking on it once. A blue box will appear around the selected image. You can then click on the “Set featured image” (bottom right). You do not need to fill in any of the other fields.
5. Since you want this slide to be shown in the “Street Photography” slideshow, tick the “Street photography” check box in the Slide Type section (on right). If you want this picture to be the first slide in the slideshow, set the order number to 1 (in Slide Options below the text box), then click Publish.
6. Now you need to add the other 4 pictures, so repeat steps 3-5 using same Slide Type (Street Photography) but with a different title, description, featured image, and order number.
7. Open the post or page in which you want to show the slideshow and add a shortcode to the post content. In this case the shortcode would be [pjc_slideshow slide_type=’street-photography’]. Note that the shortcode is the Slide Type slug and not the Slide Type name.
6. Save the page then check the result.thanks Mike, resolved
Thanks for that. Once I’d reset the WP_TEMP_DIR smush.it works. Great
reactivity. However, what I really want to do is get rid of the EXIF metadata. You make no claim that smush.it does this but I mis-read your description, taking all four of the bullet points to be covered. It is entirely my fault, but you might like to consider rephrasing…
