Tobias,
I installed TablePress and, using the code from the post that opened this thread, I was able to center the text in the TablePress preview of my table. But when I installed that table into my website page and viewed the page, the text was still left justified. Any suggestions?

Tobias,
Thanks! I wasn’t aware I was in the TablePress forum. I started searching the general forum for problems with centering text in tables and somehow wound up in this forum.
I’ll check out the TablePress plugin. Sounds like it’s what I need. I’ve solved a couple of previous problems by installing plugins. I just wasn’t aware there was one for tables.

I’m a new WordPress user and I’m not certain I’m even in the correct discussion forum. I’m trying to create a website using the Sinatra theme and the standard WordPress page editing tools. The standard Table tools let me center column text in the preview page, but when I view the published page the text is always left centered. I also tried to right center it, just as an experiment, but it was still published as left centered text.
I am not a programmer and cannot code in .css or .html. I created my hobby website many years ago using tools that my web hosting service no longer supports. They suggested I recreate my site using WordPress, which is the tool they now support in place of the tools they gave me when I first created my site.
