WebNashr – not an amateurish suggestion, at all. I’ve gone through and switched a few of the plugins off (mostly the ones that had received the most recent updates).

For an unknown reason, the issue I’ve pointed out in this thread mysteriously cleared up today. I’ve not received any notices from my Hosting provider as to whether they’ve applied any updates to WordPress, but something clearly changed in the environment.

I’ve opened a ticket with the Hosting provider, one with the Plugin vendor for an Eventbrite plugin, and I think I’ll satisfied that the issue reported here has ‘cleared up’ (but I don’t know how/why).

If you don’t mind, I would like to leave this open for another 48 hours on the outside chance I can uncover what has happened – and then report here for the potential use/benefit of others.

I log into each site twice daily and apply all plugin/theme updates as soon as they appear. I receive the WP updates automatically through the hosting service.

Could those plugins be out of sync? Only because they haven’t had time to react to whatever just appeared in this 4.2.2 update that was unexpected. I would expect plugin/theme authors are testing against the beta code for WP, but you all don’t actually synchronize releases – which is why I’m getting the results noted in my initial post.

You and I both know I just have to wait it out until they catch up … but I created my post because there is clearly some underlying common root-cause to the change that has impacted numerous plugins… and your developers might want to check it out, too.

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I’ll contact my provider to see if the number of recipients is an issue, as well.

For the moment, we’re unfortunately using a distribution list and Outlook to send emails, but the list can get outdated quickly as new members join and/or apply changes to their information.

I look forward to your next update. I like your plugin the most of tools I reviewed… but we really can’t use it yet until that patch comes in. Until then, we’ll stick with Outlook and wait.

Thanks again for a nice plugin and your quick response.

    Dan,

Your suggestion worked perfectly. Your intuition about the database appears correct. I deactivated, uninstalled (deleted all files, etc), and then did a fresh pull (auto-install from WP)… and it worked perfectly.

The Settings page immediately showed both the “Locally Generate Audio and Video” as well as the “Use Ghostscript” options pre-checked from the fresh installation.

I went to my page where the [dg] shortcodes were already in place, and voila… everything was still there and the PDF thumbnails were perfect. Seriously, it couldn’t have been any simpler and gone any better.

Thank you again for such quick response and accurate problem resolution. Awesome!!!

    Dan,

Thanks for the very quick response (seriously, I had an issue with a theme that went nearly 5 weeks before they even acknowledged with a reply/post).

I followed your link and read through the other thread, and I too had that same issue on the upgrade. To resolve the warnings, I just went through each pull-down with the error and set the default value… and the install appeared to complete normally. Just to be sure, I deactivated and reactivated the plugin, at that time. That was prior to my post (above).

After reading your reply, I deactivated and reactivated with no success. I then applied the 2.0.1 upgrade and attempted the deactivate/reactivate process again… and still no luck. The checkboxes will not remain “checked” following the “save” action.

Are these relying on some other plugin/tool being installed that I’m missing? I feel like there must be something really obvious that I’m missing.

In the end, the world won’t stop revolving if I don’t have the image of the file rather than the generic pdf image… but it would be great if I can get this working.

    Thanks, – Tom C.
