To address your first question, Stripe Tax does indeed calculate taxes at the checkout stage to provide accurate pricing to customers. However, you are charged for tax calculation calls as per our pricing structure. Unfortunately, there isn’t a built-in feature to charge only on completed purchases.
Regarding enabling the free tax monitoring feature, Stripe Tax allows you to monitor your tax obligations without additional charges. This involves utilizing the dashboard to track potential tax liabilities and compliance requirements. It is enabled by default and you access this feature directly from your Stripe Dashboard following the documentation provided in Stripe Tax Monitoring.

Thanks for your patience while we’ve been looking into the issue you reported. We’ve been trying to recreate the problem on our end, but haven’t had any luck so far. To help us get to the bottom of this, could you please check a few things for us?
- In your WordPress admin panel, please go to this page:
/wp-admin/admin.php?page=wc-status&tab=logsTake a look at the logs and see if anything looks out of the ordinary. - While you’re in the WordPress admin area, open up your browser’s developer tools (usually by pressing F12 or right-clicking and selecting “Inspect”).
- In the developer tools, click on the
"Console"tab. Do you see any error messages or warnings there? - Then, click on the
"Network"tab. Refresh your page and see if any requests fail. If they do, could you check what the response says?
If you spot anything interesting during these steps, please let us know. Your insights will really help us figure out what’s going on and how to fix it.
