In this video, I’m showing you the Member’s plugin and the custom user role. I made this by duplicating the default wp customer, so the permissions are exactly the same. I then show an example with my test account set to that custom user role, I added a product to the cart, clicked “view cart” and the cart is empty. I then logout and repeat the same process as a guest and the product stays in the cart when I click “view cart”. I have not only checked if this is a firewall security issue (which I have ruled out as not the culprit), I also tested if it was a cookies issue – which it doesn’t appear to be, I deleted a few unused plugins and deactivated a few other plugins to rule out any plugin conflict – which did not fix the issue, I used the default WP 2025 theme to rule out a theme conflict – which also didn’t fix the issue, I updated the php from 8.1 to 8.4 – that didn’t fix the issue, and I also added custom php to the function.php file to force the cart not to empty the cart if it happened to be specifically for the custom role name, but the cart still empties. As mentioned, it’s only happened since about 10 days ago… but it was working without issue for about 2 years prior to this incident.

Thanks for responding. I did make sure the new role I created had the same permissions as the default “Customer” role. And in fact, I actually cloned the default “Customer” role to make sure my new role had the same permissions applied. The only permission that is in the default “Customer” role and the role I created is: the “Read” permission under the “General” setting.
