I have asked Datafeedr about this now, and they were wondering about the following:
What should “_featured” be set to? Is it “1” for featured and “0” for not featured or is it “yes” for featured and “no” for not featured?

Hi Max,
Just so I am sure I understand this. As you can see from this screenshot I have made products “Featured” manually (http://prntscr.com/a7cqq3), but even with this set it is not possible to filter on Featured.
How can I troubleshoot this further?

Yes, it is imported products using Datafeedr´s WooCommerce import.
