I don’t know – I am really disappointed that no one from WordPress has given us some clear instruction as to what to do about this. PDFs are a mainstay for many websites, certainly for mine, and I do not have any coding knowledge either.
PLEASE can we get some help with this??

The site theme is Twenty Twelve.
Nothing has changed in the config since I COULD upload jpg files.
I am the administrator of the site.
I don’t know what a multisite installation is but I sincerely doubt this is one.
PDFs load fine.
I have WordPress 5.9.2 installed. I deactivated all of the plugins I have and I still get the same error message.
