In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageYou were GREAT! I just screwed up trying to change too many things at once. I have a new install, and this time I put it in its own directory and will BUILD a static home page. I was just in a hurry, and you know what grandma always said: “Haste makes waste.” So true, so true.
I’m just sorry to have taken so much of your time. Where do I send the box of chocolates?

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageAt least next time around, I’ll have all my info collected and know what to format BEFORE I start doing stuff!
But I still need to read more about setting another page as the home page; I’m still unsure what URL goes in what field, but I’ll read more.
You’ve been a great help. I was just a lost cause!

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageI’m afraid the database is irreparably damaged and I have no choice but to begin again. There were no posts yet. I’d just begun formatting the site. Doncha’ think that’s my best bet?

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageHere’s what I see for the /wp-admin/ page, and I can’t log in. Oh, no way to show you – well, it’s a plain page with no graphic formatting, just fields.

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageSorry, not so fast! I had opened the Dashboard of another blog of mine so I could get the two field names correct for that post above. I haven’t tried the allstaryou.com site yet – am going now.

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageOkay, I am able to get into the Dashboard and have clicked on a few links and it seems okay.
Now what?
Also, the instructions say not to leave that in the functions file. Do I remove it now, or when?

In reply to: Trying to find blog after creating static home pageI tried to indicate which page should be the home page and and the blog. Both “WordPress address URL” and “Blog address URL” were the same. I added “Blog” to the second, because that was the name of the page, and then I went to check on the name of the page I’d set to be the static home page and that’s when everything went south.
Now I can’t even access the Dashboard. I can log in, but that’s as far as I can go.
Probably permanently screwed, right?
