Hi Mark, I was just about to re-post with my solution. I did try various themes, including the default, but the issue seemed to be with the password-protect plugins I had tried. With ‘Password protect WordPress’ all is now fine.
Thank you for your quick feedback. The plugin works very well for me and I will upgrade now, knowing I have solved this.

Solved. There turned out to be a server issue at TSOHost. No issues with the theme and now all running smoothly.

Resolved with the recent update and NOT using the Gallery template.
