Worked it out! Thanks for your help.
For anyone else having this problem, I discovered that when viewing the Post, Screen Options did not have the Comments or Discussion boxes checked and when I changed that, the Comments box reappeared. I hadn’t changed these settings before, so not sure what made the boxes uncheck in the first place, but at least I know what to do in the future.
Thanks for your reply. I deactivated all of my plugins (all at the same time o that none were active) and the comments box still did not appear.
Any other suggestions?
