That’s a good way to do it but there is a better way!
There is an amazing site called http://icomoon.io/
What it is is basically a webfont but for icons!! You can even make and upload your own.
There is a plugin for this on wordpress which makes it easier. Just put in the code that it generates for your icon where you want it to pop up.
As for the “Leave reply” button…if you go into your page/post there is a button called “screen options” under the place it says “Howdy, name here.” Click on this, and check mark “Discussion” then scroll down to the bottom and unclick the discussion boxes”
In your dashboard on the sidebar go to Appearance> Customize
From here select Static Front Page and you’ll see this:
Front page displays
* Your latest posts
* A static page
Make sure you have A static page selected or these text boxes won’t work and then select which page you want to be your front page.
