Before we get into the update issues, how about the Gutenberg team fix the image size issue that has been around since the initial release, but has been completely ignored: https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/8663
There are quite a few other threads on it, but nothing has been done to fix the size issue so that it is automatically “full size”, like the classic editor.
