I had the same problem with The Post Grid.
I see by your link that you must have figured it out.
I will respond with a solution for anyone else who has this problem.
When you are creating a grid:
Go to layout settings
Scroll down to ‘Detail page link type‘
Check ‘New Page‘ (do NOT check popup)
save/update grid
