In reply to: [Smart Slider 3] Great replacement for RevolutionThat’s how I found SS… couldn’t stand trying to get Revolution Slider to do what I wanted without a lot of hassle and swearing 😉 Nowadays, when I see a theme flaunting that Rev Slider is included the hairs on my back go up – it’s like a bad omen for the theme.
Decided not to use categories… to much hassle

In reply to: 2.9.1 New Post and Page Error Solution FoundI buy most of my themes and most from Brain Gardner as he has awesome themes and I seldom have a problem with them – they look very professional as well and get away from the typical WP look. Average price is about $60 each which is a small price to pay for quality.
I always rip apart themes to get exactly what I want, but it is not for the faint of heart. However, it sounds like you just need a Photography theme and he has a few really nice ones.
Personally, if this is professional site for your work and you make a living with it (or plan too), I would open an hosting account with a reputable host like 1&1 or hostgator or godaddy – all make it pretty easy to get started, then download and install the latest WP 2.9.1. (and make sure you backup you database every few weeks minimum.
For $60 plus maybe $10 bucks a month you could have a razor looking blog and totally pro look.
check out this theme at http://www.studiopress.com/themes/blackcanvas
Plus there are many other themes to look at here. Brian Gardner has been making themes for years and I use no other themes for my blogs which I think must be at least 20 to 25 (not sure exactly).
I have blogs 3 years old with some of his themes when they were free still.
IMPORTANT: Even his themes may take a bit of getting used too…be prepared for a little bit of time to figure out all the features that come with his themes. The more features – the more time you’ll need
Good luck

In reply to: 2.9.1 New Post and Page Error Solution FoundSounds like it might be a PHP version problem with your host. They may not have the required version installed. Could be the same issue for your database. If you your WP site is a a year or two old, there is a good chance your database is not supported by version 2.9.1 of WP.
But that is something you would have to figure out with your hosting company and by checking your database/php version etc which I can’t help you with.
Sorry.

In reply to: 2.9.1 New Post and Page Error Solution FoundProvided you went through the “upgrade your database” step and that went okay… (part of the manual upgrade process). Don’t know if you used an automated process as I always update manually as it is much safer and very easy to do.
That sounds like a config file problem.
Try adding your database info etc into the new wp-sample-config file (in your WP 2.9.1 files) and then rename to wp-config.php and upload to your main directory on the server. It sounds like you are not connecting to your database.
You may have to upload your backed up database files to your database if the above doesn’t work.
That is a few things that come to mind, but as with all computer problems, there could be many things causing probs.

In reply to: Big Problem when posting/ editingPossible Solution That Worked for me…
I use WP extensively and many plugins and felt this was a plugin issue. I deactivated 1 plugin at a time and after each one I tried to publish a page.
Finally when I deactivted the “Post Template” plugin by Vincent Prat
I had success >> To make sure it wasn’t a combination of plugins, I deactivated the “All” plugins and did a page publish test each time I reactivate a plugin (one at a time). As long as I kept the “Post Template” plugin deactivated I was fine and had no problems.
This resolved the problem for both new posts and pages.
Hope this works for everyone having this issue and also that no other plugins cause this problem (ones that I do not have installed possibly).
All the Best!
