Thank you for your quick response. The site is located in LA, however the visitor in China cannot (or very slow, due to regulations) connect to https://pixel.wp.com, thus I made this workaround for China visitors.
BTW, the http://pixel.wp.com seems OK in China, but the 443 port is likely to be blocked. Another workaround is using http instead of https for pixel.wp.com, but this approach will trigger the brower’s “unsafety” notice over the address bar.
Thus, I prefer the first workaround, with the only issue that the China visitors are treated as US visitors in wordpress statistics pannel.
There’s a third workaround, use nginx transparent proxy function. But this approach requires root privilege of nginx worker, I do not like this.
It would also be great if there’s an official mirror for https://pixel.wp.com/g.gif …
