Having the same issue. It updates tweets correctly, but posts twice.
I’m running WP 2.6 and Twitter tools 1.6; On my girlfriend’s site, (WP 2.6) it doesn’t have the issue under TT ver. 1.1b1. I never upgraded her install after the double-post issue started with mine.
