there is a solution. I use the pluging “Home Categories” to filters all (!) the categories of posts shown on my front page.
In most home page plugins you cannot set the number of posts to zero (which actually makes sence…) but in this case you can set all categories as a hiding filter. So all the posts get filtered/eliminated and you only see the featured slider!Example: http://www.tomdegraaff.nl
