would not using the media and text block achieve what your desire?

Add this in the customizer > general settings > additional css
.dropdown-menu>li>a {
color: black !important;
font-size: 18px!important;
}
You can alter the font size but I have used 18px as an example.
I was having similar issues but I fixed the problem by disabling all caching and Javascript minifying etc. Then after updating if you want you can re-enable the
caching etc
