No need to look into this. I solved my issue by using a shortcode in the widget. Works a treat. Great add-on.

Plus, if you leave them connected you can edit once and the edit will push to all of the widgets that are connected
Just wondering how you unconnect them? I noted that the changes do indeed propagate (which would in a lot of cases be useful) but not for my application.
