Most of the time it failed for me and sometimes would work but I could not figure out why. Your work around must have been what I was doing “sometimes”. I have used used your solution multiple times today and it works every single time. Thank you for sharing.

But that is the thing. It is not just this theme. Generally I use only Genesis themes. It happens all the time. The next time I set up a fresh site with a genesis theme, I’ll open another thread

After I followed the instructions, I think I had to add the pictures again before it worked.
I contacted support and was given a solution that worked for me. I am using a temporary url that includes “~” which does not work with TimThumb. The work around is here http://elementdesignllc.com/2012/01/how-to-fix-timthumb-using-a-virtual-directory-url-contains-tildes/ I had to do both steps, but now it works fine. Hope this helps someone else.
I was so hopeful this would work, but it did not work for me. Any other fixes? I am running wordpress 3.4.1 and just get black box where slideshow should be and broken image on manage slides page in admin.
Same problem here. Using latest version of WP. Image is broken in manage slides and on page where I put the short code, I only see a black box. help!
